Hispanic Business Committee November Update

November 2, 2017

The Lodi Chamber's Hispanic Business Committee (HBC) has been revamped with an updated mission, and has done quite a lot in our community, since starting back up 2016. The Lodi Chamber's HBC is committed to empowering and increasing the economic vitality of Hispanic-owned businesses in Lodi by advocating for civic, educational and outreach programs throughout the entire Lodi community.

Some of the committee's biggest accomplishments have been our 2016 Heritage District Health Fair, our Hispanic Business Expo, and two $500 scholarships given to deserving college-bound students within the Heritage District.

We just finished a very successful Scholarship Fundraiser, our 2nd one, and sent letters to our local high schools for applicants. We are preparing to review the applicants received, and are currently discussing setting up a task force to explore the opportunity for providing a scholarship that would aid one of our Heritage Area businesses improve their business.

Our next big event will be our Business Expo in March. We'd like to provide a platform for local business to showcase their products and services. And invite everyone to come out and contact us for info on getting involved. Our local businesses are so culturally diverse and we'd love to provide some exposure to a variety of them.
